After our rainy weekend in Bordeaux we head towards the town of Brive for one night, with a stop-off on the way at the famous Lascaux cave. The weather continues to be changeable, going from lashing rain to blue skies and back again several times during the two hour journey.

The Lascaux cave was discovered in 1940, and contains some of the oldest examples of Palaeolithic art ever discovered, dating back 21,000 years. The original cave is not open to the public as the presence of visitors was damaging the art due to a buildup of carbon dioxide, so they have built several replicas over the years with the most recent, Lascaux IV, opening in 2016. Once inside the "cave", it's easy to forget that it's a replica as it is an exact copy of the original, precise to within 3mm. The experience was simply stunning.

We then moved on to Brive where we headed into the old town centre for a wander around... with 90% of shops and cafes closed because it was Monday?!?
