Le Grand Depart

The day is finally here! We board the Salamanca ferry at Rosslare, bound for Bilbao in northern Spain.

Accommodations are more than agreeable on board, with a comfortable cabin and a smartly staked out spot in the lounge, which is situated next to the window and close to the buffet (and the bucket of wine)!

Voyaging along the Bay of Biscay, the ship starts to encounter slightly choppier waters during the evening, with the steady motion rocking us gently to sleep.

There is time for a quick breakfast in the morning before disembarking at rainy Bilbao, and heading 90 mins along the coast to our first port of call: San Sebastián.
